This second week is continuing the tremendous support for the pension strikes at Aston and all around the country. On Monday, the UUK (employers' "negotiating" body) sat down with the UCU and ACAS but then said they couldn't meet again until Wednesday. That's how much value they put on stopping the disruption to the students! The ensuing furore soon changed their minds and they are back in negotiations today.
WE ARE MAKING PROGRESS
These moves are ONLY because of our industrial action. So keep going, keep it up, and keep the faith. A positive outcome depends on you joining the struggle.
If you are one of the minority who has not managed to go on strike yet, the following link might help remind you what unions are about: https://youtu.be/eTvUs4rY4to ..... people pulling together. Its not party political, its basic humanity.
If you have been working while others have been on strike, you could contribute to the hardship fund we have set up for people who are struggling from the lost pay.
Please credit the Aston UCU hardship account: - sort code 60 83 01 - acct 20057392
If you can add your name as reference and/or email email@example.com when done, that would help track donations.
Your support is very much appreciated. Ask your colleagues to do the same! But, best of all, come out and join us.
7.15 to 10.15 or thereabouts, Wednesday, March 7th. Please don't leave it to the same people every time: make it your time, this time and make it count.
